Navigation Software
I'm making a chartplotter for my father's boat.
It consists of:
- An Asus eee PC
- A USB GPS device
- An Elo 15" touchscreen
I'm writing the software for the chartplotter using Python.
Current State
- Map drawing using MapServer's Python interface (MapScript)
- GPS reading using gpsd
- Drawing of the past, predicted, and waypoint course
- Drawing of textual information
Ideas
- Map drawing using Mapnik
- Integration with a fathometer - serial connection
- Possibly making a SONAR driver to connect to the old transducer we have - input to sound port
